Workout #102 (pace work on treadmill)

I was supposed to do some pace work on Tuesday but I felt the beginnings of a cold so I just went out for a brief 25 minute jog/run. I don’t really consider it a workout.

Wednesday I went to the gym to do some pace work. Kristina and I decided that I would aim for a 50-minute 10km in my next triathlon, so doing pace work kind of felt like a holiday from what I was doing before. 5 minute kilometers are easy after working on 4:20/km prior to the sprint triathlon. Maybe I’m aiming too easy, but I have to remember that in a race I will have done a swim and bike before the run so I will be tired. Plus, I don’t know if I’ve ever run a 10k in under 50 minutes, so it is a reasonable goal.

I did the workout on the treadmill, 6x1km, with 200m rests in between. Like I said, it felt like a holiday after the hard track workouts I had in the run up to my spring triathlon in May, so I actually enjoyed myself.
